The United States Green Building Council’s David Abell said Louisville, Ky., has worked with the National Institutes of Health to study how greenspace improves public health.
The Green Heart Louisville initiative, also supported by The
Nature Conservancy, looks at trees as medicine.
USGBC's Hilari Varnadore
said the LEED for Cities program allows diverse cities and counties to share
best practices for mitigating heat, flooding, storms and related climate issues
while also tackling issues of socioeconomic and other inequalities.
