RIAD TAGHAZOUTE, MEDINA, MARRAKECH, MOROCCO -- 1
GREAT VALUE, GREAT LOCATION, GOOD ROOM, GOOD STAFF --
PACK YOUR EAR PLUG AND REQUEST A BETTER LOCK ON THE DOOR

Taghazoute’s price point is amazing.
It's roughly 50 U.S. dollars per night,
taxes included.
I thought the rooftop breakfast on the terrace was included,
but they said it was extra so I never tried it.
My knees were a bit sore, so no big deal.
Instead
of walking up two flights of stairs, I dined at homestyle, dirt cheap paces on
the main road just footsteps away.
The location of Tagahoute is impossible to find on arrival from the airport.
But they
send a person out to help you and once you've walked the narrow pedestrian
passage, then the even tinier little alley another direction, you will never
get lost.

Leah Chase, a New Orleans culinary icon, dies at 96
Not enough words in the English language to appropriately describe what Leah Chase means to America.
Her contributions to creole cooking alone make her a legend, long before we had celebrity chefs.
She fed and supported civil rights leaders.
She lived in a FEMA trailer when Katrina destroyed her home.
She rebuilt her legendary restaurant with husband Edgar “Dooky” Chase Jr., who died in 2016.
Yes, I had many a lunch there, both at buffet table and on the menu.

Edgar and Leah were quick to come over and ask me if the lima beans were good (no, they were great I said), if the fish was crispy, was the pie flavorful (not just sweet) and if the chicken was worthy (yes, easily tied with best on earth).
RIP good soul. You deserve to be on the Mount Rushmore of cooks whose kitchens that served all with love.

JARJEER MULE AND DONKEY REFUGE - 16
A HAVEN OF REST FOR WORKING ANIMALS IN MOROCCO
Donkeys and mules work tirelessly in Moroccan society.
They are,
however, often only valued while they are useful.
When a donkey is too old or
too sick to work, they are often seen as an unnecessary financial burden on the
owner.
This leads to the abuse, neglect, and abandonment of many working animals
each year, as well as animals being worked for longer than is healthy and
humane.
The Jarjeer Mule and Donkey Refuge gives peace and comfort to donkeys
after a life of hard work, letting them live out their twilight years with
dignity.

Universal Homes: Episode 3 - "Off The Grid in Mexico"
Amazing design, beauty and accessibility.
So cool that people who are ambulatory are considering the visitability needs of their assistive mobility device-using friends. Universal Design also is realistic in terms of an older couple likely losing mobility in the future, so accessible showers, kitchens, bedrooms, etc. allow aging in place. Please share this with an architect, homebuilder, interior designer, urban planner, engineer that you know. hashtag#socialjustice hashtag#aginginplace hashtag#humanrights hashtag#universaldesign hashtag#architecture hashtag#planning hashtag#urbandesign hashtag#ada hashtag#gaad hashtag#wheelchair hashtag#inclusivemarketing hashtag#disabledpeopleshop hashtag#livebarrierfree hashtag#inclusivemobility
