HOW WE GOT HERE, HOW WE ADDRESS IT AND THE DEMOGRAPHIC SHIFTS THAT WILL IMPACT WHAT AND WHERE WE CALL HOME
Robert
Dietz, NAHB chief economist, predicts an increase of building the so-called
missing middle a way of adding density that is not high rise or out of
scale.
The term
describes duplexes, rowhouses and courtyard apartments that provide housing at
different price points that is compatible in scale with single-family
neighborhoods.
It supports
diverse and walkable communities.
It is
“missing” because such housing was common in pre-WWII United States, but often
is outlawed by zoning.
