AND SUSTAINABILITY DESIGN
Asheville, N.C., often cited as one of the most livable cities in America, was hit hard by Hurricane Helene in September 2024.
The Category 4 hurricane caused more
than $50 billion in damage in the city of about 95,000. Asheville’s River Arts
District was largely ruined.
Asheville is the county seat of
Buncombe County—the hardest hit county in North Carolina, where 42
storm-related deaths were confirmed.
