ELEGANT TURN RAMPS COST FAR LESS AND ARE MORE DURABLE
More of this please.
Turn ramp provides wheelchair access
between platforms in a Midtown Manhattan subway station.
Instead of costly elevators that break down, why not more of these?
Universal Design works best when it is simple and straightforward.

The problem with long narrow ramps is deciding who gets to use it and who has to wait for their turn. Could be someone with luggage, or a stroller, or another wheelchair using the ramp when you need it. Now, if the ramps were wide enough for two wheelchairs to pass comfortably, then I would agree 100% with you.
