MyCalle8.org gets a boost from nationally-distributed Strong Towns

PLUS URBIA DESIGN'S PRO BONO EFFORT TO IMPROVE DANGEROUS       "HIGHWAY OCHO" FEATURED IN LENGTHY INTERVIEW

Strong Towns, a highly-influential non-profit focused on strong and resilient cities, posted a podcast today on the pro bono mycalle8 advocacy work in Little Havana.

PlusUrbia Design’s Juan Mullerat and Steve Wright are interviewed by Rachel Quednau.

The 48-minute interview focuses on the need to redesign the Calle8 corridor as a complete street – a main street worthy its culture and history.

The podcast also emphasizes that both Mullerat and Wright live within a few blocks of Calle8, having invested in city living.

They share anecdotes about all the good things happening on Calle8.

But both emphasize that its present highway-like condition makes it unsafe for Wright to cross with his wheelchair-using wife and too dangerous for Mullerat to cross with his wife and two young daughters.

Strongtowns.org’s mission is: “to support a model of development that allows America’s cities, towns and neighborhoods to become financially strong and resilient.”
