1000 x EUROPEAN ARCHITECTURE -- PART 5

1000 GLOSSY PAGES OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE

Western Europe includes Belgium, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.

Four Arquitectonica office buildings in Paris' La Defense area are highlighted, including Tour Bouyges Telecom:
"This 25-story tower has an elliptical form that gives the building multiple fronts."

"Its softly shaped edges imply a democratic space and a certain sensuality in its relationship to the green landscape that surrounds the building."

"The elliptical prism is eroded as it reaches to the sky, following the angels of the envelope; this results in two angled places that reveal the curved plan in elevation."

"The receding floor plates provide additional space that introduce executive floors with smaller footprints and angled glass surfaces that act as a greenhouse."

"The building was awarded the Grand Prix award by the Eco-Building Forum a top international prize for achievements in sustainable design."

Book review of 1000 x European Architecture
