ON THE HIGH LINE -- BOOK REVIEW -- PART 1

EXPLORING AMERICA'S
MOST ORIGINAL URBAN PARK

One and a half miles of rusting railroad track, elevated 30 feet above the West Side of Manhattan, sat abandoned and doomed for demolition for nearly three decades.

Amazingly, the High Line was not only saved -- but it also became the greatest reclaimed piece of industry turned into urban park land on the plant.

Annik La Farge captures the magic of the place in her book "On the High Line -- Exploring America's Most Original Urban Park," released in 2012 by Thames and Hudson.

The $29.95 paperback includes more than 400 color illustrations over 218 pages.

High Line book review continues tomorrow, October 19
